Emily’s letter.

There are times when a client’s session lingers with me long after our conversation ends. Such was the case with Emily, who I had the privilege of coaching a single time in 2024. Our conversation was extraordinary to me on many levels, and I’d gotten wind that our session had been a pivotal moment in her life.

Anyway, I received this letter from her on 8/20/26, and it freaking made me cry. She gave me permission to share it here (side note: I would NEVER share a client’s words without their express consent).

THIS IS THE POWER OF COACHING.

Thank you, Emily. I have so much gratitude.

Hi Kristi,

You may not remember me, but I did a virtual wayfinding session with you just over 2 years ago.

I came to you uncertain whether I wanted to have a child despite being in a happy and loving relationship with my husband for 5+ years. It was a mental battle I struggled with for many years. I saw friends around me go on to have one, two, three kids, and I often wondered what was "wrong" with me that the same desire didn't come so naturally for me.

Our one-hour wayfinding session together was a pivotal point in my life.

You had me envision a life with a child... I saw a young toddler running up to me on the sidewalk outside my house. It was colorful. Full of life.

Then, you had me envision a life without a child... It wasn't a bad life, but it was gray. Unfulfilling. Missing something.

I struggled and struggled for years with the idea of becoming a mom. I convinced myself for a while that my uncertainty meant being a mom wasn't for me.

Instead, our session together revealed my true inner feelings, and I could see that the only thing blocking my way was fear. You helped me understand that it's okay to walk alongside fear, instead of letting it block my path.

This past March, I welcomed a baby boy. He is now 5 months old. It has been a heck of a journey, accompanied by moments of great anxiety, uncertainty, frustration, sadness, anger and pain.

But it has been the best decision of my life.

I often think about fear. And how, even now as I face challenges of motherhood, walking alongside fear is okay. And I'd much rather walk with it than let it control me.

Now that I'm out of the initial couple months of postpartum, I wanted to reach out and thank you. You helped me jump into this beautiful journey. I hope you know how meaningful your work is.

I am forever grateful.

Wishing you all the best.
